Michelin Scorcher 31 150/80 B16 M/C 77H REINF TL/TT Rear Tyre

The Michelin Scorcher 31 150/80 B16 M/C 77H TL/TT is a rear motorcycle tyre designed for cruiser riding, particularly suitable for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Created as an original-equipment and approved replacement fitment option for specific Harley-Davidson models, the cruiser profile of the tyre combines Michelin’s road-focused compound and casing design. The 150/80 B16 size, 77H rating and TL/TT construction make it a specification-focused choice for riders in need of a properly matching rear tyre for compatible cruiser motorcycles. The tyre features a bias-belted construction indicated by the presence of the “B” in the 150/80 B16 size code. This indicates that the 150 mm wide tyre has an 80 aspect ratio and is intended for use on a 16 inch wheel. The 77 load index indicates a maximum load of 412 kg under the applicable tyre rating system, with the H speed rating corresponding to speeds of up to 210 km/h. The specification is listed by Michelin as REINF and TL/TT, indicating that the reinforced tyre can be used according to the motorcycle’s approved wheel configuration; Michelin notes that TT indicates tubetype and TL indicates tubeless, but that a TL/TT mark can accommodate either type with a required inner tube for the tubetype rim. Designed as a Cruiser motorcycle tyre, the Scorcher 31 is intended for road riding and not for off-road use. Michelin notes that the rubber compound has been developed for grip on both wet and dry roads, a supple casing and profile are intended to aid in handling on winding roads, and the use of carbon-black-enriched compounds promote durability and long, even tread wear. The Scorcher 31 is part of Michelin’s Scorcher range created in partnership with Harley-Davidson, and the collaboration encompasses the development, testing and homologation of tyres intended for compatible motorcycles. Verified Michelin fitment data indicates the 150/80 B16 77H rear size on select Harley-Davidson Sportster applications, including the XL 883 R Sportster Iron 883, where the company lists the Scorcher 31 as a compatible rear tyre. Fitment should always be verified against the exact motorcycle year, model, original tyre size and manufacturer specification prior to purchase.
