Michelin Michelin Road Classic Motorcycle TyreIs Michelin Road Classicright for your motorcycle?

Michelin Road Classic motorcycle tyres are road-focused touring tyres for classic, retro and selected custom motorcycles that require modern tyre technology while retaining the character of an older-style motorcycle. Michelin positions the Road Classic for classic-bike riding with emphasis on wet-road grip, cornering stability and straight-line stability. Its design enables it to be suitable for riders using their motorcycles for everyday road riding, touring and relaxed long-distance journeys. The tyre incorporates Michelin Bias Belted Technology, a development of conventional bias construction to include two additional plies to improve stability at higher speeds. Michelin also specifies a compound incorporating MICHELIN Silica Technology and a 26% void ratio; the company states that this combination delivers 50% more wet grip than the previous-generation range in its internal comparison. These technologies are particularly relevant to riders wishing to achieve predictable road behaviour across a changing set of conditions, while maintaining the classic appearance and construction characteristics expected on compatible motorcycles. Road Classic is available in multiple motorcycle sizes, and hence the correct fitment depends on the motorcycle manufacturers approved dimensions. Published Michelin specifications include a 100/90 B19 57V front and 130/80 B17 65H rear tyre. In these markings, the number represents the load index and the letter the speed rating; hence 57V and 65H should always be matched with the motorcycle's approved tyre specification rather than selected purely on the physical size. Michelin advises following the manufacturer specified dimensions for road motorcycles. Compatible motorcycles can also include classic and retro models where the required Road Classic dimensions are homologated to. Michelin's documented examples include the Triumph Bonneville T100, while its professional guide also includes the Triumph Bonneville T120, Triumph Speed Twin 900 and Moto Guzzi V7 III as original-equipment applications. BMW classic motorcycles are also represented in Michelin's published customer fitment examples, including the BMW R100RT. Exact compatibility must be confirmed by motorcycle model, year and approved front/rear size prior to purchase.
