Michelin Michelin Road 6 GT Motorcycle TyreIs Michelin Road 6 GTright for your motorcycle?

Michelin Road 6 GT Motorcycle tyres have been created for sport touring riders of grand touring and high powered road motorcycles that require dependable wet road grip, cornering stability, comfort and long distance performance. The GT version has been reinforced for heavier GT motorcycles which have been designed to cover the highways, touring routes and variable road conditions. Michelin lists Road 6 GT as a touring tyre and provides GT specific fitments for selected motorcycles. The range employs a radial construction and is available in GT specific sizes including 120/70 ZR17 58(W) for the front, with rear sizes including 180/55 ZR17 73(W), 190/50 ZR17 and 190/55 ZR17. The load and speed rating will determine on the selected size, so it's important for the rider to match the tyre specification to the motorcycle manufacturers approved fitment. Michelin explains that the numbers on a motorcycle tyre identify the width, aspect ratio, construction, wheel diameter, load rating and speed rating. For GT touring applications, it's the construction which serves its primary purpose. Michelin Reinforced Radial-X EVO Technology incorporates an additional carcass ply to enhance its stability, response and comfort, while MICHELIN 2CT+ technology makes use of varying compound characteristics to help its rigidity during cornering and grip the road surface. Water EverGrip Technology features sipes which have been designed to maintain its water- evacuation capability as the tyre wears. Michelin also specifies a 100% silica tread compound for the Road 6 family, which supports its grip in colder and wet conditions. Compatible motorcycles are dependent on the approved tyre dimension and motorcycle manufacturers specification. Michelin's documented Road 6 GT development and testing includes motorcycles such as the BMW R1200RT and BMW R1250R, while Michelin also identifies GT machines such as the BMW K1600 GT/GTL within the range's intended applications. These examples should not be considered as a complete compatibility list and the rider should confirm the exact front and rear size, load rating and speed rating before purchase.
