It is a relevant tubeless front tyre for riders looking for a Michelin Road 5 120/60 ZR17 front tyre for a compatible 17-inch motorcycle wheel. Michelin categorises the Road 5 as a touring-oriented road tyre to deliver wet and dry performance including when the tread has been substantially worn. Its 120/60 ZR17 M/C (55W) specification provides useful information for correct fitment. The 120 shows the tyre’s nominal width of 120 mm, while 60 is the tyre’s aspect ratio. ZR refers to a radial tyre for high-speed use, 17 is the wheel diameter in inches and M/C confirms it is motorcycle-specific. The 55 load index relates to a maximum load capacity of 218 kg, while the W speed rating in brackets indicates capabilities above 270 km/h under the applicable rating conditions. Riders should always ensure the tyre’s size, load rating, speed rating and fitment matches the motorcycle manufacturer’s specifications prior to installation. The Road 5 makes use of Michelin Water Evergrip Technology, 2CT and 2CT+ tread compounds, progressive siping and Radial ACT+ technology. Michelin specifies these technologies are engineered to assist with wet-road grip, braking performance and dry-road handling. Its tread design is intended to provide adequate wet-weather performance as it wears, making it applicable for riders who frequently experience rain as part of their normal road touring. For compatibility, Michelin’s published fitment guide specifies the 120/60 ZR17 M/C (55W) Road 5 front against the 160/60 ZR17 M/C (69W) Road 5 rear for the Ducati Monster 620. Other Road 5 original-equipment applications specified by Michelin include motorcycles such as the Bajaj Dominar 400, BMW R nineT Scrambler, Honda CB500 Naked & Sport, KTM Duke models, Triumph Trident, TVS Apache 310 RR, Yamaha MT-07 and XSR 700; however, specific tyre-size compatibility can vary across a motorcycle’s year and specification, so it is important the vehicle fitment has been confirmed prior to purchase.
