Metzeler Metzeler Roadtec 02 Motorcycle TyreIs Metzeler Roadtec 02right for your motorcycle?

Metzeler Roadtec 02 motorcycle tyres are adaptive sport-touring tyres developed for the motorcycle rider who wants the benefit of confident road handling, wet-weather grip and sporty cornering performance from the same tyre. Assigned to the Super Sport category here, Metzeler positions their Roadtec 02 within their Sport Touring range and describe its design as being capable of offering sport-touring or super-sport behaviour depending on the style of riding. This makes it relevant to the rider who has a mix of everyday road, touring and faster-paced riding. The main attraction is the Adaptive Tread Design which as a slower pace enables the groove to assist water evacuation, tread mobility, warm up and conform to the contact patch. As riding becomes more aggressive, the walls of the grooves interact to increase tread stability and enable more precise behaviour when leaning. The design adapts to different riding styles rather than having a singular riding character. Construction and compound technology are also pertinent to the Roadtec 02. The tyre uses full-silica compounds at the front and rear, and the rear sizes have a dual-compound construction with a softer shoulder area to provide additional grip as they're cornering. Metzeler also specify central and lateral grooves for water evacuation and a common tread-pattern concept for the front and rear sizes. The manufacturer state that over 43% of the tyre is made up from bio-based and recycled materials and the ISO 14021 certification is verified by Bureau Veritas. Available Roadtec 02 motorcycle tyre sizes include front 120/70 ZR17 58W, 110/80 R19 59V and 120/70 R19 60W, and rear sizes include 150/70 R17 69V, 170/60 ZR17 72W, 180/55 ZR17 73W and 190/55 ZR17 75W. These are radial, tubeless motorcycle tyre specifications and the exact load and speed rating will depend on the size selected. It should always be confirmed against the motorcycle manufacturer's specified tyre size, load index, speed rating and fitment requirements. Suitable applications can include sport-touring, touring, adventure-touring and performance-oriented motorcycles where the published Roadtec 02 dimensions are approved.
