Metzeler Racetec TD Slick180/60 R17 NHS TL Rear Tyre

The Metzeler Racetec TD Slick 180/60 R17 NHS TL is a rear racing slick, suitable for racetrack and track-day use. The 180/60 R17 rear uses a tubeless pure radial construction, classed as NHS (Not for Highway Service) and should not be used for normal public-road use. Ideal for someone looking for a track tyre with quick warm-up, consistent performance through repeated sessions and a simple setup. Based on a single-ply radial construction which is close to original-equipment tyre geometry, making the Racetec TD Slick a genuine plug-and-play racing tyre. With the genuine rear dimensions of the product can even help streamline the transition from standard motorbike fitment to track-focused rubber without added setup variables. Metzeler also states a symmetric rear structure with seamless construction layers to allow the rear to be reversed and be used on both sides when appropriate to a circuit layout. The 180/60 R17 specification means the rear is 180 mm wide, 60-series aspect ratio and fits a 17-inch wheel. Metzeler lists the rear size with a recommended 5.50-inch rim. The manufacturer also publishes a track operating pressure range of approximately 1.6–1.8 bar with separate tyres-warmer guidance, always following the latest manufacturer recommendations and track or motorcycle setup requirements. The low-Tg polymer compound is designed for fast warm-up and track performance from the opening corner. Metzeler states that tyre warmers are not required for the TD Slick's plug-and-play concept, while the thermal and mechanical performance is intended to be consistent across multiple sessions. The wide contact patch and operating-temperature characteristics are also designed to resist cold tearing and uneven wear under track usage. For motorbike fitment, the rear should be fitted where 180/60 R17 NHS is an approved or appropriate specification for the motorbike and track application. As with any NHS racing slick, a normal road load/speed rating should not be assumed, checking with the motorbike manufacturer specifications and track requirements.
